Skit Kabomo is the premium modern face of Setswana traditional music. Born of the cattle post and raised in the era of the smartphone, his music holds two worlds at once — the homestead and the city, the elder and the youth, the lobola negotiation and the recording studio.

Where most modern African music looks outward, Skit Kabomo looks inward. His sound is Setswana traditional in its bones — the call-and-response, the percussive drive, the chant that summons family before it summons crowd — but his production is contemporary and cinematic, built for radios, for stages, for the algorithm. The result is music that feels both deeply familiar and unmistakably new.

His debut single "Magadi" tells the story of a young man arriving on the day of his bride's lobola presentation only to discover his uncle has sold the dowry cattle and spent the money. The nephew demands an answer in front of the elders: Magadi a kae? — Where is the dowry? It is uncomfortable, funny, devastating, and culturally precise.

Skit Kabomo performs with a 6-piece live band, has been working out of Alkenes Studios since 2025, and is one of the lead artists on the X3MIX Records roster. "I am not modernising tradition," he says. "I am restoring it. The production is just the suit. The story is the man."
